GB Venues 2012 Offline Maps app for iPhone and iPad

The London 2012 Olympic Games are being in London and across the UK from 27 July to 12 August 2012, followed by the Paralympic Games from 29 August to 9 September 2012. With the Queen celebrating her Diamond Jubilee this year as well, there has never been a better time to visit Great Britain.

If you want the convenience of maps on your iPhone during your trip but dont want to run up roaming data charges then this app is for you.

With it a map of London is stored directly on your phone. All of the central games venues are highlighted and in addition you get small "satellite" maps for the all of the other venues around the country: Brands Hatch, Eton Dorney and Weymouth

Maps of the main London airports are also included.

You neednt worry about separately downloading map data - its all taken care of within the app and yet it manages to use only 95 MB of storage.
Better still, its free for basic use and a small extra charge allows you to see extra mapping detail and set personalised markers. These allow you to annotate the map according to your needs and when you have access to data (hotel wi-fi for example) you can use iOS location search and store the results for offline use.

The map data is sourced from OpenStreetMap. This is a freely editable map of the whole world and is more up-to-date and detailed than its competitors.
